You’re beautiful, no matter how society defines beauty

You’re beautiful. Yes, you. And you don’t need a mirror to confirm that. All you need to do is look within so you can see all that’s good and beautiful about you and what you have to offer this world.

Beautiful Project Flawless

I didn’t always think I was beautiful. Nor was I always as confident as I am today. In fact, growing up I was quite the opposite. I used to have a problem with my nose, my lips, and my skinny size. I had a family member who used to say to me, “look at your big lips and nose just like your Daddy.” Constantly hearing that made me conscious and insecure about them. Truth be told though I was sooooooo skinny, my nose and lips did indeed dwarf my narrow face! Ha!

Beautiful flaws

I remember though one day a family friend telling me I was beautiful. I can remember it so clearly. We were at church at the time. She went on to say that I had the bone structure of a timeless beauty. I don’t think it was then, but I wish I knew when the switch flipped from me being insecure about my looks and size to me embracing all of me and loving my full lips, beautiful nose just like my Daddy and my skinny frame. Today I’m comfortable in my own skin, flaws and all.

Even though I had a difficult childhood and sometimes my heart still hurts for that insecure little girl, we can’t let our past define our future. We need to use it to strengthen us and like a diamond let the pressure expose our beauty. So, no matter what anyone else says or how society defines beauty, or even what your inner critic says, remember that you are beautiful! Of course, a little icing on the cake helps to cover some of the flaws!

    Beautiful Project Flawless

If you’ve been reading my blogs, you know I’ve been on a mission to have flawless skin. The kind of skin that just needs lip gloss and mascara!  Nope I’m not too old to have it!! I love the Michael Todd Beauty Project Flawless, as they aim to “inspire everyone to feel more confident in their own skin with the help of their innovative, cruelty-free beauty tools.”  I jumped at the opportunity to be a part and my Sonicblend Antimicrobial Sonic Makeup Brush from Michael Todd Beauty helps me add that extra touch — the icing. I typically have a hard time judging how much foundation to use and blending is always a challenge. It’s funny how you think your makeup is blended perfectly and then you see yourself in a picture! My husband likes to say the camera does not lie. Ha! With my Sonicblend though I get that flawless finish I want with half of the effort and time and a whole lot less makeup!

Mom: Best Cheerleaders

And if you’re a mom, remind your kids of how beautiful or handsome and smart that they are. Build them up so that if the world, and they will, ever tries to knock them over, even if they falter they won’t stop believing. I tell my daughter all the time, “know your worth.”
