Brown monochrome outfits have been a whole mood the past few months. I’ve always liked neutral colors, but something about brown adds a whole new level of spice and sophistication in both dressy and street style.
Brown + Monochrome = Chef’s Kiss! 10 out of 10 would highly recommend. I love monochrome looks that incorporate various textures and shades because monochrome doesn’t have to mean wearing the EXACT same shade to qualify.
Shirt
I start every outfit by picking my favorite piece and working everything else around it. In this case, the brown oversized shirt was one of my favorite purchases from the Zara sale. I sized it up to a large even though the shirt is described as “oversized” because I wanted it to be almost dress length.
If you haven’t noticed, I’m very into the European oversized/baggy clothes vibe. I like the casual effortless look they have plus having the ability to consume as much food as I so choose without altering the fit of my outfit lol!
Pants
I had the bright idea to pair the oversized shirt with leather pants so I could switch up the material and elevate the look. I have no shame in saying I own these leather leggings in 3 colors (tan, dark brown, and black) because they’re so versatile! The skinny leg offsets the looseness of the top, but straight-leg leather pants would work too.
I’d consider leather to be a STAPLE wardrobe piece as we enter year 3 of the revived trend! You can buy leather in any form — shirts, pants, jackets, purses — but I’d suggest starting off with a piece you can wear over and over again. My first leather piece was a pair of straight-leg pants from Zara followed by a leather shacket from H&M. I bought both of them at the end of 2018 and still wear them regularly to this day!
Shoes
I picked out my Chloe Betty rain boots because I kind of wanted to wear brown boots, but I don’t own any that would compliment the other browns well. Wearing tan, cream, or off-white boots is an excellent way to throw a subtle pop of contrast in a brown monochrome outfit. If you don’t have any of those colors, then black boots are fabulous too! Black is a staple color, so don’t worry about it clashing with the brown.
Rainboots are another hot trendy item that increased over the past year. Obviously, there’s always a need for rain boots, but now we are seeing rain boots as more of a fashion piece instead of a functional shoe. Was it suppose to rain the day I wore my rainboots? Absolutely not! Did I like adding another texture to my outfit? Yes! The square toe is a vibe, and so are the knee-high rain boots!
Accessories
Lastly, I grabbed a mustard bag to add some color, and yellows/greens compliment brown well. I also have on my gold hoops from Amazon that I wear with every outfit!
