Athleisure and the jock in heels

The Athleisure Trend

Experts are wondering if the athleisure trend is on its last lap. Well, I am finally warming up to the whole athleisure trend. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always been an avid sports fan so much so that when I feared my daughter was on the girly girl path I put her in soccer. I’ll never forget her little four year old voice saying “but mommy I’ll fall and dirty myself.” Before you judge me she fell in love with soccer and played varsity and club soccer all the way through her  first two years of college — by choice!!!

As much of a sports addict that I am however, my first choice of dress definitely leans to a girly more lady like attire. The only time I wore sneakers or athletic wear was to the gym. Track suits out to the grocery store? Uhmmm no…not even  to watch my daughter play soccer! I barely owned any flats even. My go to shoes were heels or wedges — thus I’d often describe myself as a “jock in heels.”  So this entire movement with athleisure where I can wear my track pants with heels has definitely given me a new appreciation for athletic wear.
