Unique Woven Bags for Summer – My Favorites

Growing up in the Caribbean woven bags were the norm. Your mom, grandma, aunt or some close family friend made them, and you could get one for practically nothing. When a Cruise ship docked at our port you’d see straw bags, fans, place mats and every cool thing you could think of at every corner as vendors tried to make money from their craft.

I marvel at the popularity of woven bags today — straw bags, wicker bags, bamboo bags, rattan bags.  Something we took for granted and looked at as just another bag that we took to market or the beach.  Today, fashionistas, thanks in part to the popularity of the Cult of Gaia bag, are flaunting woven bags all over Instagram

I tend to lean to unique pieces, whether it be bags, shoes or clothing. So if you don’t have a Cult of Gaia bag, don’t worry!! This summer move away from the crowd and opt for one of these unique bags that make for the perfect arm candy.
