The off the shoulder trend which highlights the femininity and delicate lines of the shoulder is alive and well. We can all thank Michelle Obama and her cold shoulder look for that! When I think of the shoulders though, I don’t think of delicate. I think of strength. There’s an old proverb which says “don’t make my load lighter, make my shoulders broader.” With all that’s happening home and globally we definitely need broad shoulders even if it’s only to be supportive, give a warm hug, or bow in prayer.
As wives, moms, daughters, sisters, and friends we definitely need broad shoulders for these different roles. Many times we deflect jabs by saying “it’s okay, I have broad shoulders.” At least I know I do. But do we really have broad shoulders? Most days we do well with our shoulders squared, but on other days we have to dig deep to find that extra strength. Thankfully God’s a well of ever present strength. One of my favorite verses is Genesis 16:13 “thou God seest me.” Even when the world, does not see our pain or our struggle, God does and He gives us the strength to square our shoulders and face any adversity.
This reminds me of the song by Brian Littrell
In Christ alone
I place my trust
And find my glory in the power of the cross
In every victory
Let it be said of me
My source of strength
My source of hope
Is Christ alone
So today I’m baring my shoulders as I admit that I’m not as strong as I’d like to be or pretend to be. However with Him and in Him I can do all things. After reading this the next time you wear an off the shoulder outfit, think of your broad shoulders and square them in determination. (insert high five emoji!)

Hello Niqui and Janne, I absolutely enjoyed reading this post. It is beautifully written, and what a great reminder that with Him all things are possible. I don’t know that many blogs that speak of Christ so because of that I subscribed. Keep up the great work, and using this platform to spread the word. I cant wait to read more posts. Also, your outfit is super cute, I love how you paired these purple heels with the blue dress. Hope you have a great rest of your day ladies!! xo, Emily (SCsister)
