Checkmate, the clothing pattern that’s turning heads instantly this fall and winter is checkered print. It can act as a pop of “color” especially when we’ve seen many neutral outfits this fall. I love neutrals, but I’ve gotten so used to color from the summer that I can’t entirely transition to the dark side. I love pairing subtle or not-so-subtle pops of color in neutral outfits because it adds a little spice! The most subtle way is making your bag or any accessory your pop of color! I also like adding color elements in subtle layers underneath my main outfit. For example, adding a color skirt underneath a sweater dress or adding a colorful undershirt that peaks out at the top.

On days I’m feeling a little extra, I make a bold statement with the sweater or pants that I’m wearing. Should we add a pattern? Why not!? Animal print, checkers, and swirls are my favorite prints. I paired my checkered pattern sweater with more patterns! You can just call me the clothing pattern queen! I added stripes and my Chloe boots because I wanted to have fun with my outfit. To tone it down, I would swap out the skirt for a black aline skirt, black tights underneath, and black combat boots! The dark tones help the sweater stand out that much more.
