The Kennebunkport Inn Experience

The Kennebunkport Inn and the romantic town of Kennebunkport Maine were an adventure I’d treasure for a long time to come. My stay at the Inn was the highlight as it was not just another hotel stay but a heartwarming experience.  Without even a second thought, I’d attribute the friendly and attentive staff for making this not just another trip. I left the Inn feeling as if I had been on vacation with family.

Book your stay today! You will not regret it.

Truth be told, everyone in Kennebunkport was friendly from the store manager at H&B Provisions, our waitress at Alisons and even the gentleman who saw me taking pictures in the street and sent me a DM on Instagram asking if that was me in my 12 layers taking pictures! (Ha! Guilty as charged)

The Kennebunkport Inn is in the heart of town overlooking the Kennebunk river. This prime location gave us beautiful morning views from the Riverhouse patio. It was also just a few steps away from shopping and a quick jaunt to Alisons for their lobster pizza. If you’re a history buff like my husband you’d be intrigued also to know that the Inn was originally built in 1890 as the home of tea merchant. As we read about the different owners we imagined what their lives were like back then.

The Rooms

You’re greeted by warmth as soon as you walk into the Kennebunkport Inn. The reception area is absolutely gorgeous and I spent several hours enjoying my home away from home right there. Guest rooms at the Inn are also spacious and inviting, as if they are somehow whispering, “you are home.” And I was home as the stylish nautical decor of the property is reminded me of the Caribbean — home.

We stayed in one of the rooms on the Riverhouse side though I did get to play in the Thompson Room! I loved the little touches in the bathroom too, like the black makeup towel and the body wash which smelt so amazing that I bought some. Yes, I Google it already! Added to this the little welcome note as well as the parting gift of pancake mix, hot chocolate and ear muffs were special touches that melted our hearts. Details…details…details…

The Food

Named after the Inn’s 1899 owner, The Burleigh is the Kennebunkport Inn’s onsite restaurant. I can literally order one each off their snack menu every time!!! Their fried brussel sprouts have just the right smokey crunch with the Caesar dressing and Parmesan giving that special oomph to the dish. I’ve already tried to mimic the recipe since I’ve been back.

I can still taste their Thai Green Curry Maine Mussels too. This may have been our favorite dish of the entire trip. My husband and I had to have an agreement on who would have the last one! Ha! It was so delicious we followed our waiter’s advice and soaked our bread in the sauce. So yummy! There was also complimentary continental breakfast of warm fluffy quiche, fresh muffins, croissants, and fruit every morning.

The Service

The Kennebunkport Inn team are a special group. Eric was the most gracious and informative maître d I’ve had the good pleasure of meeting! From food suggestions to, Instagram tips and sightseeing recommendations he was a wealth of knowledge.

He was also so funny at their Drinks through the ages event! He worked the room expertly making sure everyone had a good time. If you’re ever in Kennebunkport be sure to attend one of their Special events as they are quite fun.  If per chance too you need a quick photo in the cold, Nhiaa is up for the challenge! Ask me how I know! Ha.

The easiest way to get to Kennebunkport Maine would be to fly in to Portland International Jetport. (PWM) It’s a smaller airport but it’s very convenient. From there you can then rent a car for the picturesque 20-minute drive into town. You can also fly into Boston but that makes for a longer drive depending on traffic sometimes as long as 3 hours.

Have you had a vacation which you’d repeat yearly if you could?
