Destination Wedding Gems: 4 of my Favorite Resorts

The Caribbean is much more than paradise. To me the Caribbean is home – my happy place. If everything aligned perfectly, I’d choose to live there every time. In the meantime, however, the Caribbean is always first on my list when I think of a vacation and certainly when I think of the ideal location for a destination wedding.

My Destination Wedding

February is our blog anniversary and my wedding anniversary. For my destination wedding I wanted ease, a built-in honeymoon, beautiful pictures and an adventure for my guests. Truthfully beautiful pictures were at the top of my list. I didn’t care if it was just the two of us to share the moment.  I often flick through my wedding album and smile at the memories and the back drop of gorgeous blue waters. My husband likes to say a beach is a beach is a beach. I beg to differ however. The same way every all inclusive resort is different. Here are a few of my favorites. Jewel Dunn’s River Resort, Jamaica:

This hotel holds very special memories as my husband and I got married here. I did a lot of research before picking the location. I felt the hospitality and attention to detail from our wedding planner before we even picked the location. That made me say yes to the location! Then, with them taking care of EVERYTHING expertly, the gorgeous views, the entertainment, and delicious food — take me back!!  If you choose Jewel Dunn’s River Resort for your destination wedding be sure to visit Dunn’s River Falls! The falls would make for an interesting pre or post wedding party activity.

The Club Barbados, Resort and Spa, Barbados:

This is a favorite of my husband and I. We’ve been here at least twice now and if we planned another trip to Barbados this would be our first choice! The best thing about this hotel is the amazing staff! They even join in with guests for the nightly  entertainment. This hotel lends itself to a quiet and intimate vacation with cooking classes and deep-water fishing excursions — fun!! Though its relatively quiet at night, Barbados itself has a vibrant night life, so you can always go off property for entertainment. Oistins Fish Fry and the Caves are a must do when in Barbados. One thing to note, the beach immediately in front of this hotel is small, however there are tons of nearby beaches to explore!

Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton, Jamaica

One year I spent my birthday and the New Year at Grand Palladium. And ohhhh my how grand it was. This resort is huge and chocked full of activities both day and night. It is also as beautiful as the pictures show!!! If you can, upgrade to a suite – do it!  Funny that what I remember most is the food and having my first green juice here. The food every day was delicious with several restaurants to choose from for every meal!! You will have a grand time at the Grand Palladium whether it’s for your destination wedding or just a vacation.

Palm Island Resort, St.Vincent & the Grenadines:

I would be remiss if I didn’t share the gem that is the Palm Island Resort. You could say I’m biased since St. Vincent is my homeland. However, one look at St. Vincent and especially the beautiful Grenadine Islands you’ll be biased too! With Palm Island being a stone’s throw away from the other islands in the Grenadines you will have A LOT to do and explore. The Captain Yannis tours to the Tobago Cays and Mayreau is a must do! Or if you rather lay out on the beach then you’ll have the whitest of sand to stick your toes in. It is so very peaceful and relaxed here it’s as if you have your own little island.  Palm Island will not disappoint if you choose to host your destination wedding here!
