America is called “the land of the free” but we are not all free are we? As a black person living in America the invisible chains are just as oppressive. Until black people are afforded the same opportunities, are treated as equals, and until Black Lives Matter; this is not the land of the free.

Dear America,
.
You’ve marched with us.
And vowed to do better.
Posted black squares.
And pledged 15%.
Because you said Black Lives Matter.
.
But …
We STILL have to create more hashtags.
Are forced to defend Kamala’s right to run.
Have to boycott games just so you listen.
And are shot while murderers roam free.
Do Black Lives Matter to you America?
.
It seems like …
There are loud noises, but no sound.
A flurry of momentum, yet no movement.
Activity after activity but zero action.
.
Alas, we refuse to act as if it’s ok.
The director yelled cut over and over.
Yet, my dear America, the land of the free,
The cameras filming this horror story keep rolling
And you refuse to “get up offa us!”
.
Well our sons, daughters, husbands, wives, brothers, fathers, sisters, mothers, friends, ________ lives still matter! We will not quit reminding you that Black Lives Matter until we see tangible change.
