My Boyfriend and Must See Sights of Paris

Long distance romance…

It had been so long, that I had lost count of how many years I had been in a long-distance relationship with my boyfriend. Even though I had not met him in person, I never questioned the relationship. He would always be my boyfriend.

He was a movie star in his on right and quite popular with everyone, especially the ladies. He had such a compelling presence. Each time I saw him on the big screen or in a magazine I swooned. It seemed to make me fall so much more in love with him.

When we met…

My pennies were finally adding up as I was patiently saving them so I could take a trip to meet him. Whenever someone said they were visiting Paris, I had to fight off pangs of jealousy. I’d say to them, “say hi to my boyfriend for me.”

I was finally going to meet him. I couldn’t wait to see his tall lanky frame and greet him with a flirtatious, “hi handsome.” Despite his lankiness, he had an intrinsic majestic beauty. I so wanted to see the world from his point of view.

My boyfriend…

The day I met my boyfriend my stomach was in knots with my excitement. Thankfully I was wearing sneakers because my legs had a mind of their own as I skipped through the streets to meet him. As I rounded the corner, there he was beckoning me to come closer. “Hellooooo Mr Eiffel,” I whispered loudly with the biggest grin ever.

Eiffel Tower

Paris

Paris had been on my bucket list for as long as I could remember and should be on everyone’s bucket list. The city is so romantic with rich history and beautiful sites. And though the Eiffel Tower was my primary motivation, here are my top places to visit in Paris.

The Eiffel Tower – My Boyfriend

Though this may be cliché the Eiffel Tower is hands down my favorite place in Paris. For years before visiting I’d tell anyone who was planning a trip to Paris to say hi to my boyfriend Mr Eiffel. I finally had a chance to meet “him” — and he was EVERYTHING. If you could get pass your fear of heights or claustrophobia you must go to the top. The view is worth it. And if at all possible stay till sunset so that you can see the tower lighted.

Le Jardin Du Luxembourg

This garden is pure magic and my second favorite place in Paris for sure. Best of all entry is free! Funnily enough, it wasn’t on our original list of places to visit. We had planned on visiting Versailles but at the time of our visit it was closed because of a strike.  Le Jardin Du Luxembourg made up for it though, with its’ beautiful French and English gardens and the large pond littered with miniature sailboats. You can explore the gardens on your own or with a guided tour.  I know everyone uses my boyfriend for their engagement proposals is also the engagement proposal perfection.

The Avenue des Champs-Élysées

For all the Fashncurious souls this street is a must visit with all the designers I wish I could afford to wear every day. You also get to see the iconic Arc de Triomphe and perhaps get a picture if you’re willing to battle all the other tourist trying to capture their moment. What I enjoyed most about this street though, was my shopping experience at the flagship Louis Vuitton store. They catered to our every need while they plied us with champagne as we shopped their signature bags and perfumes. Be sure to go during the week as the line is always shorter then! Of course, my sweet tooth wouldn’t let me skip the macaroons of Ladurée. Though we had to stand in line it was worth the wait.

Musée du Louvre

I’d never really been a fan or museums, but this was the world’s largest art museum and a thing of beauty. Plus, Beyoncé gave me an entirely different reason to want to visit. I wanted to capture every shot that she did. Alas there were way too many people for that because we did not have the luxury of a private tour. If you are short on time be sure to at least see The Mona Lisa since it is one of the most valuable paintings in the world. “It holds the Guinness World Record for the highest known insurance valuation in history at US$100 million in 1962 (equivalent to $650 million in 2018)”
